Team Astra set for Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Twenty-one Astra Partners athletes will represent 10 Commonwealth teams across six days of athletics competition in Glasgow.

The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games begin on Thursday 23 July, with the athletics and Para athletics programme taking place at EDF Scotstoun Stadium from Monday 27 July to Saturday 1 August.

Team Astra will be represented across track and field, with athletes competing in sprints, hurdles, middle-distance races, relays, jumps, throws and combined events.

The group also includes two athletes who have received special honours from their respective teams.

Melissa Courtney-Bryant has been appointed co-captain of the Team Wales athletics squad alongside Harrison Walsh. Courtney-Bryant, who won 1500m bronze for Wales at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, will compete in both the Mile and 5000m in Glasgow.

Cyprus high jumper Elena Kulichenko will also have the honour of carrying her country’s flag at the Glasgow 2026 Opening Ceremony.

Progression to semifinals and finals is subject to qualification. Relay appearances are also dependent on the final line-ups selected by each country.
