Biography

Eleanor Patterson is an Australian high jumper, world champion and Olympic medallist with an outstanding record at the sport’s biggest competitions.

She first emerged internationally by winning the 2013 World Under-18 title, before claiming Commonwealth Games gold in Glasgow in 2014 while still completing her final year of school. Patterson went on to become world champion in 2022 with a personal-best clearance of 2.02m, before adding World Championship silver in 2023 and Olympic bronze at Paris 2024. She is also a two-time World Indoor Championship silver medallist.

Returning to Glasgow in 2026, Eleanor secured her second Commonwealth title with a Games record-equalling clearance of 1.96m, adding to the silver medal she won at Birmingham 2022.

Her career is defined by resilience, consistency and an ability to deliver on the biggest stage, establishing her as one of Australia’s leading international athletes.
