Biography

Originally from Eritrea, Aron Gebremariam arrived in the UK as a refugee in 2023 and has quickly established himself as an outstanding young distance runner. Representing the World Athletics Athlete Refugee Team and training with Birchfield Harriers in Birmingham, Aron is a two-time UK Athletics U20 Cross Challenge champion and an English Schools 3000m champion. In 2026, he won both The London 5000 and the Morton Games, lowering his 5000m personal best to 13:15.06. An IOC Olympic Solidarity Scholarship athlete, Aron is now progressing towards his ambition of competing at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

I’ve used his latest official 5000m time; the headline statistics on his main World Athletics profile have not yet been updated from his 2025 personal best.
