Tiaan Whelpton Joins Astra Partners Ahead of World Indoor Championships

New Zealand sprinter Tiaan Whelpton has joined Astra Partners, enhancing the agency’s elite athlete roster.

The 24-year-old, born in Cape Town, South Africa, relocated to New Zealand in 2019 and has since made significant strides in athletics. In February 2025, Whelpton recorded a personal best of 10.10 seconds in the 100 meters at the Sir Graeme Douglas International meet in Auckland, narrowly missing the national record of 10.08 seconds held by Eddie Osei-Nketia.

Earlier, in January 2025, he set a New Zealand resident record in the 60 meters with a time of 6.50 seconds at the ACT Open Athletics Championships in Canberra, Australia.

Whelpton’s agent, David Scott, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Tiaan’s dedication and recent performances align perfectly with Astra’s commitment to excellence. We’re excited to support his journey as he aims for international success.”

As he prepares for the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, Whelpton continues to train under the guidance of coach Terry Lomax, aiming to further cement his status in the sprinting world.

Off the track, Whelpton is associated with New Balance, reflecting his commitment to quality and performance.

Astra Partners is proud to welcome Tiaan Whelpton and looks forward to supporting his athletic endeavors on the global stage.
