Matthew Hunt, born on the 23rd of November 2006, is an Australian athlete specialising in the 400 m hurdles, representing Australia in international athletics. At 19 years old, Matthew has quickly emerged as one of the country’s most promising young long-hurdles athletes.
Matthew won the Australian National Championships in the 400 m hurdles on the 12th of April 2026, recording a personal best of 49.37 at Olympic Park, Sydney. The performance represented the fastest winning time at the Australian National Championships in 18 years, underlining the significance of his achievement within senior national competition.
His performances have positioned him strongly within Australian athletics, demonstrating the capability to compete at major international championships as he continues to develop at an elite level.
