Biography

James Gormley (born 9^th April 1998) is an Irish middle-distance athlete representing Ireland in international athletics. Specialising in the 1500 m, he also competes over longer distances including the 5000 m, demonstrating both speed and endurance across middle-distance running.

A National Champion, James has established himself as one of Ireland’s leading middle-distance athletes through strong championship performances and consistent competition at national and international level.

James holds a personal best of 3:37.60 for the 1500 m, achieved on 22^nd February 2026 at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center. He also recorded a 3000 m personal best of 7:40.72 on the 14^th February 2025, also at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center, highlighting his strength across both middle-distance events.
