400m
Wadeline Venlogh (née Jonathas; born 19 February 1998 in Gonaïves, Haiti) is one of the world’s leading 400m specialists. After representing the United States at the highest level – winning Olympic and World Championship relay golds – she switched allegiance to Haiti in 2025, immediately setting a new national record and announcing herself as a major force for her home country.
Wadeline’s breakthrough came at the 2019 World Championships in Doha, where she ran 49.60s in the 400m – a collegiate record – to place fourth individually before anchoring Team USA to gold in the 4×400m relay. She followed that with Olympic gold in Tokyo 2020 as part of the 4×400m relay squad and bronze in the mixed 4×400m relay at the 2022 World Championships.
In her debut season for Haiti, Wadeline claimed silver at the 2025 NACAC Championships in Freeport, running 50.23s to break the Haitian national record in the 400m.
Raised in Haiti until age 11, she moved to the United States in 2009 and overcame significant adversity, including periods of homelessness, before turning to athletics at 16. Beginning at UMass Boston, she became a nine-time NCAA Division III champion, before transferring to the University of South Carolina, where she won NCAA titles in both the 400m and the 4×400m relay.
