Burks first garnered attention for her athletic prowess at Hartselle High School, where she excelled in both track and field and basketball. She later attended the University of Alabama, where she continued to develop her talent under the guidance of esteemed coaches.
Burks’ career highlights include winning the gold medal at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships with a remarkable leap of 6.91 metres, a personal best at the time. She also clinched the NCAA Indoor Championship title in 2016.
