Mehmet Çelik is a prominent Turkish middle-distance runner specializing in the 800m and 1500m events. He gained international attention after winning gold in the 1500m at the 2017 European Youth Olympic Festival and securing a bronze medal in the 800m at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires.
In 2023, Çelik set a Turkish indoor record in the 800m with a time of 1:47.90 at the TTU Jarvis Scott Open in Lubbock, USA. He also recorded a personal best of 1:46.84 in the 800m at the European Games in Chorzów. In 2024, he achieved a personal best of 3:35.55 in the 1500m at a meet in Brussels, placing him among Turkey’s top performers in the event.
Çelik has represented Turkey in various international competitions, including the European Athletics Championships and the Balkan Championships, where he has consistently delivered strong performances.
As of 2025, Mehmet Çelik continues to train and compete at the highest levels, aiming to further elevate his standing in international middle-distance running.
