Liam James McAlinden, born on September 26, 1993, in Cannock, England, is a professional footballer known for his versatility as a forward. McAlinden began his career with Wolverhampton Wanderers, joining their youth academy and making his senior debut for the club in 2013. During his time at Wolverhampton, McAlinden was loaned out to several clubs, including Shrewsbury Town, where he scored two goals in seven appearances, Fleetwood Town, where he added another goal to his tally, and Crawley Town, contributing with one goal during his stint.
In 2015, McAlinden signed with Exeter City, where he played until 2017, scoring six goals in 42 appearances. His time at Exeter was marked by important contributions in league campaigns, further establishing his reputation as a reliable forward. After Exeter, he briefly played for Cheltenham Town and then joined Brackley Town on loan, where he made an impact with two goals in five appearances.
McAlinden moved to Scotland in 2018, joining Falkirk and later Greenock Morton. Despite limited appearances, he continued to demonstrate his adaptability across different leagues. Returning to England, McAlinden joined Morecambe in 2019, where he was part of the squad that achieved promotion to League One.
In 2020, McAlinden signed with Wrexham, where he was part of the team during a significant period of investment and rebuilding. He played a key role in their campaigns in the National League, appearing in 52 matches and scoring three goals.
As of 2024, Liam McAlinden plays for Rushall Olympic, having joined the club in August 2024. Throughout his career, McAlinden has been recognized for his work ethic, versatility, and ability to adapt to various playing styles and environments. He is currently represented by Astra Partners Football, underscoring his continued presence in professional football. His journey reflects a dedicated pursuit of excellence across the English and Scottish football leagues.
