Zimbabwe
Chengetayi Mapaya, born on December 19, 1998, is a distinguished Zimbabwean athlete specializing in the triple jump. He represents Zimbabwe and has competed for the Texas Christian University (TCU) Horned Frogs in the United States. Throughout his collegiate career, Mapaya has earned notable achievements, including two NCAA Division I championships and multiple All-American honors.
Mapaya’s career highlights include winning the gold medal in the triple jump at the 2017 African U20 Championships in Tlemcen, Algeria, setting a meet record of 16.30 meters. He also claimed a silver medal at the 2024 African Championships in Douala. Additionally, he broke Zimbabwe’s 23-year-old triple jump record with a personal best of 17.26 meters during the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
