Charlene Lipsey is an accomplished American middle-distance runner specialising in the 800 metres. Born on 16th July 1991 in Hempstead, New York, Lipsey has made significant strides in her athletic career, representing the USA at numerous prestigious events.
She attended Louisiana State University (LSU), where she was one of the most decorated middle-distance runners in the history of their Lady Tiger programme. During her collegiate career, she became a three-time SEC champion and a five-time All-American in the 800 metres (USA Track & Field | Home) (FloTrack).
Lipsey’s personal best in the 800m is an impressive 1:57.38, achieved at the Lausanne Diamond League meeting in 2017, which places her among the fastest American women in this event. Her other notable achievements include finishing seventh at the 2017 World Championships and second at the USA Championships the same year (Sporting Heroes) (Diamond League).
Additionally, she was part of the USA team that set the indoor world record for the 4×800 metres relay in 2018. Lipsey’s career also includes a Diamond League meeting victory and a national indoor championship title (FloTrack).
