Astra Partners Football is pleased to announce that 18-year-old goalkeeper Oliver Riva has signed with Huddersfield Town’s B Team. The towering 6’6″ shot-stopper, formerly with Accrington Stanley’s academy, will join the Terriers for the upcoming season.
Riva, known for his commanding presence and impressive reach, spent his formative years at Accrington Stanley. During his time there, he progressed to the fringes of the first team, serving as the third-choice goalkeeper in his final season with the club. His development caught the attention of Huddersfield Town, leading to this exciting opportunity.
Huddersfield Town Academy Manager Jon Worthington expressed his enthusiasm for Riva’s arrival, saying, “We’re really pleased to have Oliver join us, and we’re looking forward to seeing the progress he’s able to make working alongside Goalkeeper Coach Neil Bennett. Having had him around the group already on trial, we’re pleased with how he’s performed and handled himself, with a really good attitude to training and looking to get better each day.”
Riva will be part of the B Team setup under the guidance of coach Michael Tonge, where he will compete for a spot alongside fellow goalkeeper Francis Hurl. This move represents a significant step in Riva’s career, providing him with the platform to develop his skills further and gain valuable experience in a competitive environment.
Astra Partners Football, who have managed Riva’s career, are confident this move will be pivotal for the young goalkeeper. They will continue to support him as he integrates into the Huddersfield Town system, aiming to build on the potential he has shown during his time at Accrington Stanley and during his trial period with the Terriers.
With his height, command of the box, and determined attitude, Riva is a player to watch as he takes this next step in his journey with Huddersfield Town
